Joy & Sorrow

I watch George masterfully prepare giant steaks on Christmas Day like it’s a ballet.

Now 30.
He’s a man.

He stands weilding the cast-iron on the spot where our last family photo was captured on Christmas Eve 9 years ago, his wonderful partner at his side.
Bantering with our guests.

I have so much joy in my heart at this moment.
And in equal measure the pain is visceral for all that he has had to endure.

Pure joy
Pure sorrow

They don’t cancel each other out.
They live in my heart, together…
Unlikely bed fellows
side by side.
