Our foundation was started with generous donations from friends and family after Luke’s death, in lieu of flowers.

I knew I wanted to help victims of this drug epidemic somehow.
Those victims come in many forms:
The families who grieve.
The people still trapped in substance use disorder.
Those who have yet to fall through not understanding the risks.

But the overwhelming cloud that overshadows open discussion, understanding, access to effective treatment and policy change - is fear and stigma. I reject both.

I started by writing about my grief. Many therapists are taught to resource us out of it, to get us over it. But it appears that, much like substance use disorder itself, traumatic grief is misunderstood, sending many underground, alone with their trauma - the what ifs, the guilt, the self blame, the rage. Isolation is the enemy of both SUD and grief.
If you need to talk, scream, cry … just reach out sheila@lukelove.org.

There is no cure for what I have, it’s too late for Luke and I, but if I can be part of saving another Mother’s child…
JUST SAY KNOW. NALOXONE training. This highly effective opioid overdose reversal medication is safe and easy to use and our foundation receives free Naloxone through the DHCS Naloxone Distribution Project. With the internationally widespread fentanyl lacing of all recreational drugs -MDMA, cocaine, street Xanax, meth…… many go into opioid overdose unwittingly. This nasal spray could save their lives. Empowering stuff.
I have added an Overdose Response page to my blog which includes how to identify an opioid overdose, what to do and all the legal information.
Currently we train in person or via Zoom, so you can be anywhere.
We offer trainings in schools, community organizations, private homes..
No group is too large or too small. Please reach out to me or … sign up here .
60 minutes of your life….. could save someone’s whole life, and their Mum’s.
Once you have completed the training, I can send you a lukelove Naloxone Kit which are
currently only for California residents… but we are changing that with our collaborations throughout the USA. Just ask.

Show the faces behind the stats. When I tell people how Luke died, they are shocked. There’s a preconception that Luke and I don’t fit, that none of the women I have met or their brilliant children fit. In showing our faces and those of our children, we change that preconception. And if that can change only by meeting us - I’m here. Without that shift, the call for action, for change from the people - can’t happen. I have added the Rest in Love page to my blog, with photographs of our children who died as a result of drugs and the words of their own mothers. I would be honored to add your child..

The projects are expanding all the time. If you have an idea or would like us to be part of yours… please contact me through my contact page.
Every idea is valuable and very welcome. Collaboration is the way forward.

Help us keep the project alive. Donations. You can make a donation to the Foundation via PayPal. No sum is too small - maybe you are just buying Luke a coffee. We are grateful for all the love and support.
