3 WORDS CAN SAVE A LIFE
Liz told me first.
It saved her husband’s life.
The drugs gangs use it for contactless drops.
The criminal underworld, for rendezvous.
I noticed it in UK cop shows.
But here in the US we seem oblivious to this life saving tool and of course, I am thinking of OD response.
Let me explain.
The whole world, yes the entire planet earth has been divided into 10 foot (3m) squares.
Each square has been allocated a unique set of 3 words.
With those 3 words you can be located (or locate someone else) within 10 feet.
A free and simple international app called What3Words lets you know the 3 words assigned to that 10 foot square where you are, right now… anywhere on earth!
Yes, you can use it to find your friends at a concert, out on a bike ride, on a boat, in remote film locations or to get a pizza delivered in a field… but more importantly it is a vital resource in an emergency.
It cuts out all the waffle of confusing addresses or non existent addresses and you may not even know the address where you are when the shit’s hitting the fan!
Simply open the app and it will locate you and give you the 3 words for your 10ft square.
Tell the operator on your 911 call or your friend at the festival those 3 words and they will know exactly where to find you.
It works even if you are at the beach, in a national park, up a mountain, in a forest… you get the idea.
Download it now and have a play so that you are familiar with it,
because emergencies don’t always happen in a convenient place!
Apparently You can even use it without signal or data… which is spooky!
It’s widely used all over the world by emergency services (and crime syndicates) and in many places in the US… check out where and who on their site.
If your local emergency departments aren’t yet using it - let’s get after them!
Thank you Liz, for your unwavering support in all things lukelove and for introducing me to this brilliant, life saving resource.
