Know Your Shit

The run up to International Overdose Awareness Day is manic in this house. Meetings, speeches, trainings.

I’m like Santa on Christmas eve, except I am filling sacks with Narcan and preparing lists of new pages for our Overdose Response page.

Social media alerts start as midnight strikes in each time zone across the globe.
The beautiful faces of those lost, the haunting words of those who grieve.
There are so many.
I scroll and scroll.
I press the heart emoji, as if it is my duty to respond to them all.
I forget to post about Luke, but his friends don’t.

People will always take drugs, they always have… but this death rate is another thing altogether and it isn’t slowing any time soon.

User or not… get smart, know your shit.
Tell others. Spread the word.
Education changes everything.
And we need this to change.
